What Is a TV Project ID? – Smart TV Guide
Official step-by-step technician instructions, hardware safety precautions, and troubleshooting procedures.
Prerequisites & Tools Needed
Factory service remote or service menu access code.
⚠ Safety & Operating Precautions
Setting an invalid Project ID can cause complete loss of display, requiring factory blind remote key sequence or EEPROM reprogramming.
Modern Smart TV motherboards are universal platforms designed to drive dozens of different LCD panel models across screen sizes from 32-inch to 75-inch.
The Role of Project ID
Instead of writing 50 separate firmware binaries for 50 screen sizes, manufacturers compile a single universal main software package containing a lookup table. The Project ID selects the specific row in that table.
Typical Symptoms of Incorrect Project ID:
- Picture is upside down (mirror image)
- Picture has dual images or split screen
- Colors appear solarized, negative, or posterized (JEIDA vs VESA LVDS mapping mismatch)
- Screen remains black while backlight and sound are operational
Project IDs can typically be reprogrammed via service menu access (e.g., Menu + 1147, Source + 2580, or remote 062596 + Info).
